The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect. To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line. 

BNSF: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 1 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring between Union Station and Naperville. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Effective May 18 through May 19: Weekend rail maintenance occurring throughout the line. Weekend trains (In: 2002-2028 / Out: 2001-2027) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Metra Electric: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 1 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring for the 147th St. Sibley station rehabilitation and a tie gang. Weekday midday trains (In: 100, 214-130 / Out: 101, 215-165) may be delayed 15 minutes. Weekend midday trains (In: 800-828 / Out: 8301-829) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Effective April 8 until May 10: Weekday and weekend evening construction occurring between 11th Place and University Park. Evening weekday trains (In: 138-150 / Out: 345-153) may experience delays up to 30 minutes. Evening weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 15 minutes.

Milwaukee District North: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 1 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring near Grayland. Weekday midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Effective May 18 through May 19: Weekend construction occurring near Lake Forest. ALL weekend trains may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Milwaukee District West: See below for effective construction dates

Effective March 25 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring at Wood Dale for a platform renewal. Weekday midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes. 

Effective May 18 through May 19: Weekend construction occurring near Elgin for a crossing renewal. Weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Rock Island: See below for effective construction dates

Effective March 18 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring between Gresham and Mokena. Weekday midday trains (In: 414-628 / Out: 407-619) may be delayed up to 15 minutes. Weekend trains (In: 202-122 / Out: 205-221) may be delayed up to 20 minutes.

Effective May 20 & May 21 ONLY: Due to a crossing renewal, RID outbound trains 605/607/609/611/613/615 will be modified. These trains will have added stops at Gresham, 95th St.-Longwood, 103rd St.-Washington and will terminate at Blue Island. To view the modified schedule please click the link below.

Southwest Service: See below for effective construction dates

Effective May 13 through May 17: Weekday construction occurring near Chicago Ridge. Midday trains (In: 812-818 / Out: 805-811) may experience delays up to 10 minutes.

Union Pacific North: See below for effective construction dates

Effective May 13 through May 24: Weekday construction occurring between Lake Bluff to Waukegan. Midday trains may experience delays up to 30 minutes.

Effective May 18 through May 19: Weekend track maintenance occurring between OTC to Main St. Weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 30 minutes.

Union Pacific Northwest: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 29 through May 24: Weekday track maintenance occurring between Cary to Crystal Lake. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 30 minutes.
