The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect. Please monitor alerts and check our homepage or the Ventra app for service updates.

To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line.

BNSF

Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring between Western Ave. to Aurora. Midday trains (including train 1233) with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Effective April 5: Saturday construction occurring near Congress Park. Midday trains (In: 2006-2024 / Out: 2005-2021) may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Metra Electric

Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring for the rehabilitation of 87th and 95th Street stations. Weekday midday trains (In: 100-334 / Out: 101-245) may be delayed 20 minutes. Weekend midday trains (In: 800-828 / Out: 8301-829) may be delayed up to 30 minutes.

Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday and weekend evening construction occurring between 11th Place and University Park. Evening weekday trains (In: 138-150 / Out: 345-153) may experience delays up to 30 minutes. Evening weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 30 minutes.

Milwaukee District North

Effective March 31 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring near Grayland. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Milwaukee District West

Effective March 31 until April 4: Weekday construction occurring between Elgin and Big Timber. Weekday midday trains (In: 2228-2244 / Out: 2205-2223) may be delayed up to 10 minutes. 

North Central Service

Effective January March 21 through April 4: Weekday construction occurring between Union Station to Western Ave. for track maintenance. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Rock Island

Effective March 29 through April 13: Weekend construction occurring near 16th Street and Morgan St. Weekend trains (In: 202-122 / Out: 205-221) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Effective March 24 until April 11: Weekday construction occurring near 16th Street and Morgan St. Weekday midday trains (In: 606-428 / Out: 601-619) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Southwest Service

Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring between Orland Park 179th and Manhattan. Weekday trains (In: 810-822 / Out: 805-813) may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Union Pacific North

Effective January 6 through April 4: Weekday construction occurring between Lake Bluff to Winthrop Harbor. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 20 minutes. Weekday evening construction will also be occurring from Winnetka to Highland Park. Evening trains (In: 368-376 / Out: 367-377) may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Effective April 5 through April 6: Weekend evening construction occurring between Winnetka to Highland Park. Evening trains (In: 824-828 / Out: 827-301) may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Effective April 7 through April 11: Weekday construction occurring between Waukegan to Kenosha. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes. Weekday evening construction will also be occurring from Winnetka to Highland Park. Evening trains (In: 368-376 / Out: 367-377) may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Union Pacific Northwest

Effective January 6 through April 11: Weekday construction occurring between Crystal Lake to Woodstock. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 15 minutes.

Effective April 5 through April 6: Weekend construction occurring near Edison Park. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 15 minutes.

Union Pacific West

Effective April 5 through April 6: Weekend construction occurring between Kedzie to Oak Park and West Chicago to La Fox. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 10 minutes.
