Metra will host free training sessions on DBE payroll compliance for construction contractors and subcontractors on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016. The sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Metra headquarters, 547 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, 2nd Floor.
The training was developed for construction company employees who are responsible for certified payroll completion, submittal and compliance. The sessions are intended to educate participants on proper data submittal to ensure prompt payment for contracted work, especially for projects using state and federal grant funding.
Participants attending this training session will receive a better understanding of the differences between state and federal prevailing wage requirements for data collection, data reporting, work classifications and certification.
“Metra is dedicated to educating firms of all sizes about how to work with our agency,” said Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “Our goal with this training is to ensure all attendees gain an understanding of payroll compliance issues so they can be successful in business.”
Metra’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program was established in 1984. Since that time, the program has made numerous strides in creating an equal playing field for small, minority- and women-owned businesses. Program goals include: encouraging qualified firms to become DBE certified; providing access to Metra’s procurement opportunities to small and diverse businesses; assisting in the growth and development of minority- and women-owned firms by building relationships with vendor communities, interest groups and government agencies; providing outreach opportunities and contract compliance and monitoring.
For more than 30 years, Metra’s DBE program has sponsored and participated in hundreds of workshops, training sessions and exhibitor fairs that provide access and opportunities for small, minority-, and women-owned businesses throughout Illinois.
